The original REVENANT rulebook was laid out using the Publisher features of Microsoft Office 2011. Needless to say, I crashed my ten year old iMac several times during the layout process. One of the byproducts of working with that program was that I had to drastically reduce the size of the images I used to avoid crashing the program and keep the final PDF from being way too large. After upgrading to a new computer and starting to use Affinity Publisher for layout, those concerns aren't really relevant anymore.

REVENANT was intended to be a visually striking game, but I always felt like some of the lower resolution images detracted from the presentation. So I decided to completely redo the layout in Affinity Publisher using the original, high resolution images. I made a couple of very minor tweaks to the layout here and there, but this new version is functionally identical to the original PDF.

It just looks better.

WAY better.

I've included two versions of the rulebook. One is a high resolution PDF that looks great, but is a bit on the hefty side in terms of file size. The other file is a lower resolution version that's much smaller. It still looks much better than the original version, and it holds up against the high resolution version pretty well until you start zooming in closer.

After tinkering with shrinking the game down to a 5.5 x 8.5 zine size, I decided to keep it in the original 8.5 x 11 format because it puts more emphasis on the images and I didn't want to have to completely redo the flow of the text.

Anyway, I'm really happy with the way this new version turned out, so I hope you like it as well.
